From the “Starry Night” bicycle path in Eindhoven.
My father was a burgeoning artist at heart, even if he was a materials scientist for a big tech company by trade. The parallels are not lost on me (as a veteran of a rival tech company, and a self proclaimed writer and creator at heart). Van Gogh was someone that spoke especially clearly to my dad, either through the use of color and texture to elicit emotion, or from Van Gogh’s fascination with rural life (dad was a farmer growing up).
Bicycling also was a passion that I shared with him, as it was one of the things that really brought us together in the last few years of his life. So when I had heard that this opened on what would have been his birthday after he passed, I knew that I had to go.
Beautiful, ethereal, completely invisible during the day, and somewhat difficult to find, the path was absolutely worth the trip out of the way to find. This one was for you dad, I love you 😊
