Kanazawa, Japan I was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to catch up with one of my oldest friends. L and I studied Japanese together in Junior High School, spent a summer together in a Japanese Exchange program, and our lives took extremely divergent paths after High School. His ability and determination to acclimate in a culture and environment so thoroughly has been something that I have admired for years. I had a difficult time adjusting to a new city in the states, and for a long time felt that the cultural barrier would be an impractical choice for me. It was really good then to get some of the most profound advice on living abroad that I’ve encountered so far: Just go, it will work itself out.
